#60 Normal

Saturday Oct 12, 2024

Saturday Oct 12, 2024

For many of us, our understanding of "normal" was shaped during our youth as we sought to please others and feel safe in our environment. For me, normal meant being in survival mode day and night for many years. It took reaching a point of exhaustion for me to pause and reflect on whether I contributed to the problem and where my concept of normalcy originated from. This journey of self-reflection can inspire us all.
In this episode, I discuss my experiences normalizing toxic relationships, health issues, and negative self-perceptions. I urge you to examine what you might accept as normal and consciously work towards normalizing stability, self-care, and empowerment in the NEW Episode #60 Normal.

In Part 1 of this 3-part series, Lori shares her personal experience with menopause and the challenges she faces. She refers to menopause as 'Meno-slap' because it felt like a sudden jolt rather than a pause, especially with the physical symptoms, hot flashes, bloating, hair loss, and anxiety, to name a few, as well as emotional and psychological impact. Lori reflects on the lack of discussion and support around menopause in her upbringing and emphasizes the importance of compassion and self-care during this transition. She encourages women to redefine their menopause experience and find ways to empower themselves.

"It is not your shame. It was their shame, and they put it on you!" is the best takeaway from Episode #55 with Ilene Leshinsky, psychotherapist, intuitive energy healer, body image specialist, and author of the book Reflections Of A Fat Girl.
I invite you to listen, observe, and become curious as Ilene and I dip into our early childhoods and talk about where shame began for both of us. Guided by her lived experience, Ilene helps me and many clients heal their emotional wounds and release the shame they hold in their bodies.

#54 Becoming Curious: Who Am I?

Thursday May 04, 2023

Thursday May 04, 2023

Who are you? Now that’s a loaded question, just three words that hold significant weight. Now all of this is just a step in the process of getting to where we are meant to be and thriving; we start losing sight of who we are and our personal purpose along the way. This process of discomfort helps us develop deeper self-awareness. You must let go of parts of yourself in order to discover what is currently intended to fit you; releasing what no longer serves you is necessary!
